Kira-kira, Pita-pita.
You can almost hear the soft, joyful sound of shells bouncing in the air.
Akoya oyster shells that once held pearls, porcelain clay from Kutani, and glaze derived from the shells themselves—
Through the hands of artist Yuko Nishikawa, these materials have been given new rhythm, new life.
This piece began with a simple phrase:“The Light of 7:00 AM.”
The boundary between yesterday and today.
A moment to quietly release the past and make a small promise to oneself:“Let’s make today a good day.”
At that moment, morning light slips in gently.
Your spine straightens just a little, your heart feels a touch lighter—and light begins to settle between what was and what is.
As you watch this piece bounce softly in the breeze, with its subtle movements
and delicate light, you may find yourself carrying the light of 7:00 AM within, too.
