We developed, for the first time in Japan*, a glaze born from Akoya oyster shells left after their pearls are harvested.
With this glaze, we created a jewelry tray, an ochoko sake cup (generous gabunomi size), and a matcha bowl.
The color is a pale ice blue, like the sea in early morning. Every piece is one of a kind.

On the base of each vessel, we engraved a Japanese word, one per piece, to gently unravel the heart after use.

May this vessel, in the course of daily life,
gently loosen stiffened conventions
and a tightened heart.

【Size】
Diameter 6cm, height 6cm

【Materials】
・Clay: We use clay made from crushed Hanasaka pottery stone, a rare ceramic stone that has been quarried in Ishikawa Prefecture ever since its vein was discovered in the Hanasaka district of Komatsu in the late Edo period.

・Glaze: We use a glaze made from Akoya oyster shells that remain after their pearls are harvested and would otherwise be discarded.
