Materials and Ethics

What we present is a series of stories that elevate overlooked materials in our consumer-driven society, offering them new perspectives and meaning. The story begins with the encounter of new materials—this marks the starting point of our product development. From the careful selection of materials to the creation of each piece of jewelry, we treasure boundless curiosity and a hopeful vision for a better future.

Unique Pearls

Everyone is different, and that is what makes everyone beautiful. It is the irregular shapes that give pearls their unique character. At ANNA DIAMOND, we celebrate this individuality, transforming each pearl into a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry.

Akoya pearls, often called the "king of pearls," have long been cherished for their perfectly round and pure white form. Yet, the vibrant hues and whimsical shapes—each cultivated naturally within the sea—have often gone unnoticed, bleached, or reshaped to conform to conventional ideals.

At ANNA DIAMOND, we intentionally preserve the individuality of pearls harvested in Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture, allowing their natural forms to shine. People, like pearls, are all different—and all beautiful. True beauty should never be confined to a single standard or rule.

Metals Sourced from Urban Mines

We repurpose valuable metals extracted from discarded mobile phones and computers, transforming them into refined metals for use in our jewelry. Metal resources are finite. Over 70% of the Earth’s reserves of gold, silver, and mercury have already been mined, and it is now said that greater quantities of these metals lie dormant in urban mines.

At ANNA DIAMOND, we breathe new life into metals sourced from these urban mines, elevating them into beautiful pieces of jewelry. As inhabitants of this planet and stewards of the future, we aim to transform humanity’s discarded waste into a baton of hope, passed on to the next generation. This is the challenge we embrace at ANNA DIAMOND.

Refined metals are used in select collections.

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Child labor, land degradation, and conflict funding—ANNA DIAMOND chooses to stay far from such sorrowful stories, embracing lab-grown diamonds that shine with purity and promise.

Natural and lab-grown diamonds share the same composition, chemical structure, and brilliance. The only difference lies in their origins. While natural diamonds are formed deep within the Earth over millions of years, lab-grown diamonds are created in a matter of weeks within a controlled laboratory environment. This quality marks them as a next-generation material, born from human ingenuity.

I named the brand after my sister, Anna, who is ten years younger than me. With hope in my heart, I wish for a society that will be more vibrant, positive, and full of life by the time she reaches my age. ANNA DIAMOND’s jewelry gives shape to this vision—a symbol of hope for a brighter future.
