Akoya Shell Plaster Wall

Plaster Wall — The Second Life of Akoya Shells

Look closely at the walls of ANNA DIAMOND Gallery and you will see small fragments catching the light. They are the shells that once raised pearls. As a plaster that regulates humidity, absorbs odour and resists bacteria, what was meant to disappear now fills the space with a new role.

2025 — On permanent display at the Gallery

A glimmer, a soft tapping.
You can hear the gentle sound of shells hopping.

Project 04

hodoku

Unravel — Akoya Shell Glaze Series

Unravel the heart. Unravel convention.
We were the first in Japan to develop a glaze made from Akoya shells left after the pearls were taken.
With it we made jewelry trays, sake cups in a generous size, and matcha bowls.
The colour is a pale ice blue, like the sea at dawn. Every piece is one of a kind.

2024 — Koichi Taniguchi (Taniguchi Seidosho) × ANNA DIAMOND — from ¥7,150
