A glimmer, a soft tapping. You can hear the gentle sound of shells hopping.
Akoya shells left after the pearls were taken, Kutani clay, and a glaze made from Akoya shells. In the hands of the artist Yuko Nishikawa, each material was given a new rhythm and a new life.
The words this work began from were the light at AM 7:00. The border between yesterday and today. The hour when you let the past go and make a small promise to yourself that today will be a good day.
The moment you make that promise, the morning light comes in, your back straightens a little, and your mood lifts. That is how light comes to live between yesterday and today.
Watching this work sway and hop with the smallest movement or the faintest breeze, you may find that the light of AM 7:00 can enter your own heart at any time.
